Peace in Motion

I’ve been following a group of venerable monks who are walking for peace across the USA.
They travel on foot from place to place. When they arrive in a town or city, they stop. They meet people. They listen. They share a talk. And then, quietly, they move on again.
If you’d like to listen to their talk in Raleigh, North Carolina, you can find it here
What I keep thinking about is the way peace seems to spread through this kind of presence. One conversation leads to another. One settled person affects the room. There’s a real knock-on effect.
When the world feels upside down, it’s easy to feel helpless. Watching this has been a reminder that peace doesn’t only live in big ideas or grand gestures. It shows up in how we are with each other — in our tone, our attention, and the way we listen.
If we feel a little more settled or grounded ourselves, that often carries through into our actions and our words. And from there, it passes on.
This was the thread running through my final therapeutic art session for January. We explored peacefulness using a very simple art practice — following the breath with lines on the page. Like a walk. Or a wave. Nothing elaborate. Just noticing what was already there.
I wanted to share this practice with you.
If you do try it, please let me know how you get on — I’d genuinely love to hear and if it leaves you feeling even a touch more peaceful, perhaps that’s something you carry into the rest of your day, and pass on in small, ordinary ways.
You can find the practice here
With love and peacefulness,
Today is going to be a peaceful day.
